Sandy ran off to the right area because she could smell it - Rhodes probably was not in the right area at all. Nor was PK… they were close, but did not witness it. I don’t think it was a matter of Sandy outrunning Rhodes, but more along the lines of she found the direct path and they didn’t follow her right away since they were *supposed* to be following him and that isn’t what happened. That is how I interpret it!
So I mean, he didn’t directly witness the death, but also, Rhodes kind of had to be cheerful for his friends. It was a shitty situation, but Rhodes reacted in a way where Slasher was seen as The Bad Guy, and death does happen all the time, even if Rhodes himself hadn’t seen any deaths at that point. Even if he was cheerful then, that doesn’t mean he was unaffected - we didn’t get to see at all what happened during that night or during the next day etc.
In any case! There is a little new Rhodes and PK story that helps show what he feels about what just happened, which I will be making a picture for soon. Soon!
