Well, school of any kind is super overpriced in the U.S., to start, so don’t feel like it’s just art school. College is only worth it if you’re getting good and useful advice and if you’re working your ass off during it - if you’re getting good and useful advise elsewhere and training through someone else as well as working super hard, that’s essentially the point of art school and you don’t really need to put yourself into a financial black hole. I know it’s a really tough thing to just not finish college when everyone stresses how important it is… but it really varies per individual. When I went, I got a *LOT* of useful advice for the 1 1/2 years I went, but then the housing market crashed here, and I didn’t get into classes I want because I had like 3 less credits than everyone else and so got last pick. So I quit and continued to work hard in my own direction. As long as you’re working hard, trying to be critical of your own work to achieve your own goals, then you’re doing fine. It’s only worth it to go if you need to learn some skill that you can’t learn yourself, or if you want to learn under someone specific who is only available through some school. Under those circumstances, I recommend school highly (I wouldn’t be able to do a lot of animation stuff I learned without having taken a semester under a really good teacher, for instance) - so it just highly depends. If you got a couple of people working with you, that’s great, and you should keep at it!
