The new pmd's graphics did a lot for the presentation. Like even the sappy bits had a lot more effect because the characters had a larger range of body language. The 3D camera angles also really help. The dungeons are also more interactive with puzzles and more complex terrain. Even if the story is kind of tame it's still very enjoyable.
